Safety & Vetting

How we vet every caregiver

Safety is not a checkbox at Call Emmy — it's the foundation. Here's exactly what every caregiver goes through before working an event.

Our vetting process

Four layers of verification

1

Multi-layer background check

Every caregiver undergoes a comprehensive background check that includes criminal history (federal and state), sex offender registry search, and identity verification. Background checks are renewed regularly — not just at onboarding.

2

Psychometric evaluation

Caregivers complete a standardized psychometric assessment that evaluates temperament, emotional regulation, and character. This goes beyond what a background check reveals — it identifies who this person is, not just their history.

3

Skills and experience verification

We verify hands-on childcare experience, check CPR and First Aid certification, and conduct a practical assessment of child management and communication skills. Every caregiver must demonstrate competence, not just claim it.

4

Reference interviews

We conduct live reference interviews — not just check boxes. We speak directly with previous employers, families, and supervisors to get a real picture of how a caregiver operates under pressure and with children in their care.

Insurance & liability

Coverage you can document

Call Emmy carries liability coverage for every event we staff. Event organizers receive documentation of that coverage as part of the booking confirmation — which matters for your venue agreement, your organization's legal requirements, and your own peace of mind.

If your venue or legal team requires a certificate of insurance (COI), we can provide that upon request as part of the booking process.

Emergency preparedness

What happens if something goes wrong

Every caregiver on a Call Emmy event team is First Aid and CPR certified. We don't treat this as optional — it's a requirement for every team member on every event.

Injury or illness protocol

If a child is injured or falls ill during an event, our caregiver immediately administers appropriate first aid and notifies the parent. For anything requiring medical attention, we follow a defined escalation protocol and coordinate with event organizers. Every incident is documented in writing.

Parent communication

Parents receive a contact number for the childcare team at check-in. They can reach us throughout the event. We do not interrupt parents during sessions unless it's necessary — but we are always reachable.

Child check-in and check-out

We use a sign-in/sign-out system at every event. Children are only released to the adults who checked them in, or to adults explicitly authorized in writing by the parent at check-in.

Our standard is higher because it has to be

Call Emmy was founded by a working mother who understood that "vetted" is a word that gets thrown around without meaning. We built a vetting process we would trust with our own children — and that's the standard we apply to every event, every caregiver, every time.
